The Details

A Free Event Open to Everyone

National Black Female Photographers Day is an opportunity for our sisters in photography to reach out to their communities and with them, explore the beauty of their cities through guided photo tours. Each tour is led by a BFP group member.

I am excited to be a BFP Photo Walk Leader for the second year in a row. This year I selected Newark, NJ not only because it is the largest city in New Jersey, but this year also, the City of Newark is celebrating its 350 Anniversary. With that in mind, I thought it would be interesting to walk the downtown area to view some of the historic buildings and landmarks. Architecture styles include: Beaux-Art buildings, Art Deco and 1930s buildings and sculptures by Gutzon Borglum (the artist who created Mount Rushmore).

We will meet and begin at Newark Penn Station, which is convenient for those who will arrive by PATH or NJ Transit. There is also parking in the immediate area if you choose to drive.

Walk Leader: Mary Brown
